Fees & Frequently Asked Questions

I am currently offering online psychotherapy sessions to individuals residing anywhere in California,

with a few in-person spots available in Berkeley, CA.

I offer an initial 15-minute complimentary phone consultation, for people who are interested in booking a session with me. This offers an opportunity for you to share a bit about what you're looking to explore in therapy, to ask questions about the therapy process, and provides an opportunity for us to begin to get to know one another and feel out whether we would be a good fit.

To schedule a consult, please call or email me. Once we schedule a session, I will send you a private link for our video session beforehand, so you can easily join our scheduled session.  If we are meeting in person, I will discuss those details with you beforehand.

Fees:

Individual Therapy:
50 minute session - $185

Sessions are 50 minutes long, once per week, unless otherwise arranged.

Reduced Fee / Sliding-Scale:

I understand that some people can not afford the full fee, so I offer a sliding-scale when possible.  Dependent upon your financial situation, I have designed my practice to accommodate a percentage of low-income/sliding-scale clients.  If you are in financial need, please inform me and I will share if I have any current sliding-scale openings.

Insurance:

I do not take insurance in my private practice.  I am therefore considered an "out-of-network" provider.  However, if your insurance plan covers reimbursement for out-of-network providers, upon request I can provide you with a monthly superbill  (itemized receipt of services) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.  Some insurance providers will partially reimburse "out-of-network" mental health services, so you may want to reach out to your insurance company to understand what options might be available to you.  You would be expected to pay the full fee for therapy to me at the time of your visit.

Here are some questions you can ask if you reach out to your insurance provider directly to inquire about any out-of-network coverage:

  • What is my out-of-network coverage for mental health services? Am I covered to see a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist?  (specifically for: Type of Service - 50 minutes Psychotherapy; Procedure Code - 90834)

  • Do I have an out-of-network deductible that must be met before reimbursement begins?

  • How much of the fee will be reimbursed? (This is usually between 20-80% of the session fee)

  • Is there a maximum allowable amount for this service? (Some insurance providers cap the maximum fee they will cover. So if, for example, a therapist has a fee of $190 but your provider’s maximum allowable amount is $90, the insurance company will only reimburse for a portion of the maximum allowable amount versus the full fee.)

  • Do I need a mental health diagnosis on the statement I receive from my therapist?

Cancellation Policy:

Because consistency in therapy is crucial to its success, I encourage you to make your attendance a high priority.  In the case, however, that you can not make it to our scheduled appointment, please be aware that I have a 24 hour cancellation policy.  If you do not cancel or reschedule your appointment with more than 24 hour notice, you will be charged the full fee for your session.

I hope the above information was helpful for you!

I look forward to connecting
